Soap dispensers - which one is worth choosing?

Liquid soap dispenser is an essential element of every bathroom equipment. It will work well in a home, restaurant or shopping mall. This device facilitates personal hygiene and the automated operation makes us use soap dispensers often and willingly. There are many different solutions available on the market, which allow you to choose a model according to your expectations and preferences.

In the OLE.pl store, we have a wide selection of soap dispensers, among which you will surely find something for yourself.

Types of soap dispensers

In general, soap dispensers can be divided into manual models, which are operated by a button or lever, or touchless dispensers, which work based on a motion-detecting photocell. The latter solution is gradually gaining popularity due to its greater user comfort. However, the method of application is not the only difference.

Manual dispensers

This is a universal and widely recognized type of container. It allows for one-handed operation, making it convenient. Changing the soap itself is quick and easy, and the mechanism is inexpensive to repair or replace, resulting in minimal operating costs. This type of standing or hanging soap dispenser is often seen in government institutions. Manual devices are produced by companies such as Merida - the countertop dispenser is made of matte brass. Equipped with a refillable tank, it allows for easy refilling using a canister and convenient cleaning of the mechanism.

On the other hand, a touch soap dispenser promotes the spread of harmful microorganisms. The plastic casing gets dirty relatively quickly. A significant disadvantage of this solution is the lack of control by the cleaning service over the rate of soap consumption. Guests can use it without restrictions, which in practice means the need for frequent replenishment of supplies.

Elbow dispensers

A special type of manual models are elbow dispensers for soap or disinfectant used where we want to minimize hand contact with potentially dirty surfaces, e.g. in hospitals. They are designed in such a way that they can be easily operated without using hands.

An example of an elbow-operated model is the Tork Elevation dispenser. The durable handle is made of stainless steel, and the spring is made of hardened steel. This ensures high durability of the components and resistance to mechanical wear. The ABS plastic housing is additionally protected by a galvanized steel lock, which prevents attempts to damage the device.

Automatic dispensers

A touchless soap dispenser is primarily designed for ergonomic use. We do not have to touch any part of the housing or buttons. Another advantage is the saving of soap, which is dispensed in portions and does not allow for free dropping of the contents. This method is mainly used in places where the bathroom is intensively used, such as in shopping malls.

Touchless devices allow for the concealment of a hanging, touchless soap dispenser inside the wall. This type of construction not only looks elegant, but also makes the housing less prone to getting dirty and damaged. Transparent elements are often used in such constructions, allowing for an assessment of the level of cartridge usage.

However, it is worth considering what kind of customers will be using our premises. Operating a touchless soap dispenser may be difficult, especially for children and elderly people who are not accustomed to modern solutions. Repairing such a device can also be problematic. Touchless soap dispensers powered by batteries are simply more expensive.

Users often choose touchless Dettol or Bisk dispensers. These are relatively cheap and versatile models that will work in any bathroom. Another classic solution that combines stainless steel and plastic is the Tork dispenser. It is part of the Tork Elevation product line, which can easily equip an entire bathroom.

Disinfectant liquid dispensers

Touchless dispensers for disinfectant liquid are just as commonly used as their soap counterparts. They are essential in places where quick elimination of unwanted bacteria is crucial, such as hospital wards and clinics. One of their main advantages is the ability to use any type of refill, as disinfectant substances are usually in liquid form.

For those looking for universal solutions, we recommend the FanEco brand touchless automatic soap or liquid dispenser. The product has PZH certification and offers the possibility of multiple refills from a canister. This wall-mounted soap dispenser is affordable, durable, and works perfectly wherever a favorable cost-to-effect ratio is crucial.

How to choose soap for a dispenser?

Both touchless dispensers and manually operated models can be filled with liquid or foam soap. Some products, such as Merida or Xiaomi soap dispensers, will function better if we take care of the appropriate density of the refill.

This type of liquid is usually a concentrated cleaning agent. Only a small amount is enough to effectively wash your hands. Due to its concentration, its portions are small, so it quickly runs out. It is also more harmful to the environment.

For those who prefer more "voluminous" substances, a better solution would be foam, which greatly increases its volume. This slows down the consumption of raw materials, and as a result, a smaller amount of pollutants end up in the atmosphere.

Ways to refill a liquid soap container

In practice, there are two methods of refilling the dispenser. You can opt for disposable inserts or buy soap in several-liter canisters. This applies to both liquid and foam form.

The first solution is definitely a bit more expensive. However, replacing the inserts is intuitive, we don't have to worry about spilling substances or lifting heavy containers. Disposable inserts are gaining popularity due to the container's tightness and cost-effectiveness. A one-liter bottle with an insert can last up to a thousand uses.

More and more manufacturers recommend using a specific type of insert for their products, which in turn can create problems with soap availability.

We can find soap in a canister in almost any household chemical store. We usually also have a few basic scents to choose from. However, this is not a particularly convenient solution and it works better with universal soap dispensers from Pepco, Castorama, Ikea or other supermarkets. Soap sold in large quantities is often not very economical due to its weak cleaning performance.

Protection of the dispenser from damage

Choosing the right soap dispenser will protect it from damage by third parties. A manual or automatic soap dispenser, which is permanently attached to the wall or countertop with screws, is much less susceptible to vandalism or theft than freestanding devices.

Opting for the second - undoubtedly cheaper and simpler - alternative, we must be aware that in a place where hundreds of people appear every day, there will be occasional acts of vandalism.

If we do not want to worry about such problems, we can consider purchasing a metal wall-mounted soap dispenser. The steel housing and the added key lock will effectively deter most potential thieves.

An alternative method will be to install an electric soap dispenser in the wall. The device will be hidden, so no one, except for the staff, will have direct access to it.

How to choose a soap dispenser housing for liquid soap?

The simplest devices are usually made of plastic or ABS plastic. This applies to both wall-mounted and free-standing devices.

If we care about prestige and the opinion of guests, a better solution will be to purchase a product in a housing made of stainless steel or a black, glass soap dispenser. Such models are most often seen in reputable restaurants or luxury hotels.

Elegant soap dispensers for the shower or sink are produced by Swiss company Franke. These are high-quality products, imported only on request, that will enhance the interior of any bathroom. Many of the touchless liquid soap dispensers from this company are made with EXOS technology, which prevents fingerprints from appearing on the smooth, matte surface of the casing.

Automatic soap dispenser with sensor or classic solutions?

If we are looking for a solution for our home, it is worth considering more expensive and more elegant automatic dispensers made of metal. Although these are small details, they ultimately contribute to the aesthetics and comfort of our lives. The home is also a place for decorative and glamorous soap dispensers and other more sophisticated solutions.

In turn, cheaper manual devices - hand or elbow-operated - will work better in a newly opened location. However, if we expect a high volume of traffic from the beginning of our business, it is better to opt for automation. Its installation may be more expensive, but the maintenance costs will be significantly lower and replacements less frequent.
