When you should refill glueboard and UV lights?

12-04-2017

All insect killer lamps require regular maintenance. In the case of shock insect killer lamps, this mainly involves cleaning the tray from insects and replacing the UV bulbs. On the other hand, adhesive insect killer lamps need to have both the UV bulbs and insect glue regularly replaced in order to function properly. Below are guidelines on how often insect lamps should be serviced.
The level of UV light emitted by the bulb decreases over time. UV bulbs should be replaced every 12 months. Why? After approximately 8000 hours, the bulb still emits a blue or green light, but the level of UV rays decreases to the point where the light is no longer attractive to insects and they stop flying towards the lamp. When should a new bulb be inserted? The best time to replace the UV bulb is at the beginning of the season, when insects start appearing. In Poland, this happens in spring, around March and April.

Glue inserts should be replaced no less than every 4 weeks. After this time, the insert dries out, making it impossible for insects to stick to it. Dry glue also stops attracting insects. In dusty and high-temperature environments, the glue insert may dry out faster, shortening its lifespan.
